Application engineering: we help you specify the right belt and parts. See how to measure before requesting a quote.
What to measure before contacting us
Width
Measure the belt from edge to edge, in millimetres. Do not use the conveyor or pulley width.
Number of plies
Look at the cut edge of the belt: each fabric layer between the rubber is one ply. Count the layers.
Cover thickness
Measure the rubber above and below the plies (top and bottom cover), in millimetres.
Length
With the belt installed, run a tape measure around the whole loop. If buying without a finished splice, also tell us the splice type.
Material and environment
Tell us what is conveyed and whether there is oil, heat, moisture or dust. This defines the cover: high abrasion, flame, oil or antistatic.
Incline
If the conveyor goes uphill, give the approximate angle. Above a certain incline the belt needs cleats or corrugated sidewalls.
Which rubber to use in each application
The cover protects the belt carcass. The right choice increases service life and operating safety.
| Cover | When to use |
|---|---|
| High abrasion | Ore, sand, stone, limestone, wood chips and other materials that wear rubber by friction. |
| Flame resistant | Areas with fire risk or that require a belt that slows the spread of fire. |
| Oil resistant | Oily grain, meal and materials with oil or fat, which would make ordinary rubber swell. |
| Antistatic | Dusty environments, such as storage facilities and mills, to prevent static build-up. |
Other parts
Idlers: tube diameter and length, shaft diameter and end type, and the position (carrying, return, impact or guide).
Buckets: width, projection, depth, hole pattern and material (HDPE or steel).
V-belts and timing belts: the marking on the back of the belt shows profile and length. Send a photo.
Pulleys: diameter, face width, shaft and whether it is drive, tail or snub.
